Robert Wright Campbell was born in Newark, New Jersey. He also wrote screenplays, stage plays and scripts for television series. He is the creator of:
1. 'Jimmy Flannery', a sewer inspector in Chicago.
2. 'Jake Hatch', a railroad detective.
3. 'Whistler', a private eye in Hollywood.
He also wrote under the name 'R. Wright Campbell' and under the pseudonym 'F.G. Clinton'.
