Pseudonym of Charles William Gordon. He was born in Glengarry County, Ontario, Canada. He used a pseudonym to maintain his status as a church leader, first in the Presbyterian and later in the United Church in Canada. He is the creator of 'Allan Cameron', a corporal and later a sergeant of the North West Mounted Police.
