Francis Duncan
1914-1988
 

Pseudonym of William Underhill. He lived nearly all his life in Bristol. In World War II, he served in the Royal Army Medical Corps. After the war, he trained as a teacher and spent the rest of his life in education, first as a primary school teacher and then as a lecturer in a college for further education. He is the creator of 'Mordecai Euripides Tremaine', a retired tobacconist and amateur sleuth.
