Philip Levene was born in London. He was an author, scriptwriter, actor, and producer. He wrote nineteen episodes of the 1960s British television series The Avengers and created the 1960s television series Sanctuary and The First Lady. He is the creator of 'Ambrose West', an amateur sleuth.
