Hania Allen was born in Liverpool of Polish parents. She currently lives in Scotland. She has worked as a mathematics teacher, IT officer and in senior management before becoming a full-time writer. She is the creator of:
1. 'Danuta "Dania" Gorska', a Polish Detective Sergeant and later Detective Inspector in Dundee, Scotland.
2. 'Yvonne "Von" Valenti', a private detective in Edinburgh, Scotland.
