Robert McNeil was born in Hawick, Scotland. He currently lives in Ditton Priors, Shropshire with his wife. He is an author and retired public sector procurement specialist. He is the creator of 'Alex Fleming', a Detective Chief Inspector with the Major Crime Unit of Thames Valley Police.
