Gail Stuart Rowe was born in Long Beach, California. He was a writer, historian, and member of the Society for American Baseball Research (SABR). He was Professor Emeritus of History, Department of History, University of Northern Colorado. He is the creator of 'Will Beaman', an amateur sleuth in late 19th and early 20th century Boston, Massachusetts.
