Tim Symonds was born in London. He graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with an Honours Degree in Government. He tutored in American Government at UCLA and as a journalist travelled extensively throughout Africa, the Caribbean and Latin America, and as a TV Current Affairs Director in Asia Minor.
