Robert Lee Martin was born in Chula, Virginia. Most of his life he lived in Tiffin, Ohio. He worked as a bank teller, stock clerk, stock department manager, and personnel manager. He is the creator of:
1. 'Jim Bennett', the head of the Cleveland, Ohio office of a New York-based private detective agency.
2. 'Lee Fiske', a private investigator (under the pseudonym 'Lee Roberts').
3. 'Clinton Shannon', a small-town doctor and amateur sleuth (under the pseudonym 'Lee Roberts').
