Frederick Ramsay was born in Baltimore, Maryland. He graduated from Washington and Lee University in Virginia and received his doctorate from the University of Illinois. He taught Anatomy, Embryology and Histology at the University of Maryland, School of Medicine. In 1971, he was ordained an Episcopal priest.
