Thomas Michael Bond was born in Newbury, Berkshire. His first job was in a solicitor's office. He then joined the BBC as an engineer. He started writing during the Second World War. In 1958, his successful writing career started with the creation of Paddington Bear. Bond confined himself to writing for children until 1983. In that year his first crime novel was published featuring 'Monsieur Pamplemousse', retired from the Paris Sûreté and now a food guide inspector. |
