Robert Sidney Bowen, Jr. was born in Boston, Massachusetts. He was an author, World War I aviator, newspaper journalist, and magazine editor. He also wrote stories for pulp magazines, adventure novels and novels for young adults. He is the creator of 'Gerry Barnes', a private investigator.
