Jacques Futrelle was born in Pike County, Georgia. He was educated in public and private schools. He worked on the staff of the Boston American, which published several of his short stories. His most famous character was Professor Augustus F.S.X. van Dusen, better known as The Thinking Machine. Futrelle died on the Titanic. |
