Pseudonym of Harry Patterson. He was born in Newcastle-on-Tyne. After school, he joined the Royal Horse Guards. He then had a series of dead-end jobs before attending Leeds Training College for Teachers. He met Amy Hewitt who, in 1958, was to become his first wife. Whilst he was working as a history teacher, he wrote his first novel. It was published in 1959 under his own name. In 1962, he obtained a double honours degree in sociology and social psychology and was appointed lecturer in Liberal Studies at Leeds College of Commerce and Leeds Polytechnic in 1964. Nowadays he lives on Jersey. He also wrote under the pseudonyms 'Martin Fallon', 'James Graham', 'Hugh Marlowe', and under his own name. Most books were later reprinted as by Jack Higgins. He also wrote together with Justin Richards. He is the creator of 'Sean Dillon', a former IRA member and now an agent for the British Secret Service. |
