Donald MacKenzie was born in Toronto, Canada. He studied in England, Canada, and Switzerland. He was a professional thief before becoming a writer. He is the creator of:
1. 'Harry Chalice and Crying Eddie', criminals in England and Switzerland.
2. 'John Raven', a Scotland Yard Detective Inspector and later a private detective.
