Scarlett Thomas was born in Hammersmith, London. She is an author and Professor of Creative Writing & Contemporary Fiction at the University of Kent. She also writes in other genres and children's novels. She is the creator of 'Lily Pascale', a lecturer in crime fiction and amateur sleuth in Devon.
