 Pseudonym of Ursula Joyce Torday. She was born in London. Her mother was Scottish and her father was Hungarian. She studied at Kensington High School in Londen and at Oxford University where she obtained a BA in English. During World War II, she worked as a probation officer for the Citizen's Advice Bureau. After the war she returned to writing. Several of her novels under the pseudonym ‘Charity Blackstock’ were published in the USA under the pseudonym 'Lee Blackstock'. |
