Alan Furst was born and raised in Manhattan. He studied at Oberlin College, a private arts college in Oberlin, Ohio and at the Pennsylvania State University, and at Columbia University. Before becoming a full-time novelist, he worked in advertising and as a magazine article writer for Esquire, and as a columnist for the International Herald Tribune. He has lived in France where he teached at the Faculté des Lettres at the University of Montpellier. He now lives in Sag Harbor, Long Island. Visit also his official site. |
