Charlotte Carter was born in Chicago, Illinois. She currently lives in New York City. She has been a freelance editor and proofreader. She also writes in other genres. She is the creator of 'Nanette Hayes', a jazz-playing saxophonist in New York City. The fourth 'Nanette Hayes' novel, Rooster's Riff, which was scheduled for 2001 was never published.
