Pseudonym of Beatrice Clare Dunkel. She was born in Epping, Essex. At fifteen, she left school and worked at several jobs before becoming a full-time writer. Earlier in her life she worked as an actress and model under the name 'Candy Davis' and played Miss Belfridge in the BBC sitcom Are You Being Served. She also wrote two novels of speculative fiction which will be published posthumously under the pseudonym 'Theo Clare'. She is the creator of 'Jack Caffery', a Detective Inspector with the Met's murder squad.
