Alfred Edward Woodley Mason was born in London. He was educated at Dulwich College and Trinity College, Oxford. During World War I, he served in the Manchester Regiment as a captain. In 1943, he was elected an Honorary Fellow of Trinity, Oxford. He is the creator of 'Inspector Hanaud', of the French Surété. |
