Irina Shapiro was born in Moscow, Russia. She immigrated to the United States with her family when she was eleven years old. She currently lives in New Jersey with her family. She also writes historical fantasy novels. She is the creator of:
1. 'Nicole Rayburn Historical Mystery' series featuring Nicole Rayburn, a historian and amateur sleuth.
2. 'Redmond and Haze Mystery' series featuring Jason Redmond, a skilled surgeon and Daniel Haze, a Parish Constable in Victorian England.
3. 'Tate and Bell Mystery' series featuring nurse Gemma Tate and police inspector Sebastian Bell in Victorian London.
