Elizabeth Dean was born in New York City. After graduating from Pembroke College in Brown University, Providence and obtaining a masters degree from Radcliffe, Harvard University, she worked in an antiques shop. She is the creator of 'Emma Marsh', an antiques clerk in Boston.
