Susan Slater was born in Kansas. She lived in Palm Coast, Florida. She worked for a government contractor and as a human resources director, creative writing instructor, corporate trainer, technical editor and human resource manager before becoming a full-time writer. She is the creator of:
1. 'Ben Pecos', a Native American psychologist.
2. 'Dan Mahoney', an insurance investigator.
