Alex Walters was educated in Nottingham and at Cambridge University. He lives in Manchester with his family. He worked in the oil industry, broadcasting and banking. He now runs his own specialist consultancy firm working in the UK and abroad. He is the creator of:
1. 'Alec McKay', a Detective Inspector on Scotland's Black Isle.
2. 'Annie Delamere', a Detective Inspector in the Peak District.
3. 'Kenny Murrain', a Detective Chief Inspector in Manchester.
4. 'Mary Donovan', a undercover police officer in Manchester.
5. 'Nergui', an Inspector of the Ministry of Security in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia (under the pseudonym 'Michael Walters').
