David Wishart was born in Arbroath, Scotland. He was educated at Arbroath High School. He graduated with an MA in Classics from Edinburgh University. He taught English for twelve years in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Greece before returning to Scotland. He lives in Carnoustie with his wife and two children.
