  Susan Elizabeth George was born in Warren, Ohio. In 1971 she married Ira Toibin, in 1995 they divorced. She studied at several Universities. She taught English at several schools and gave creative writing courses at different Universities. She is the creator of 'Thomas Lynley', aristocrat and Detective Inspector with Scotland Yard.
