Pseudonym of Alfred Bennett Harbage. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was an author and Shakespeare scholar. He lectured on Shakespeare at the University of Pennsylvania and at Columbia University before becoming a professor at Harvard University, where he taught for many years. He is the creator of 'Sam Phelan', an ex-boxer turned police officer. |
