Ora Mendels was born in Jerusalem, Israel and grew up in England and Johannesburg, South Africa, and immigrated to the United States with her husband, Joseph, a research psychiatrist. She is an author, and former newspaper reporter, feature writer and columnist. She currently lives in Sarasota, Florida.
