Lucha Corpi was born in Jáltipan, Mexico. In 1964, she and her husband immigrated to the United States so she could study at the University of California at Berkeley. She is an author and poet. She is the creator of 'Gloria Damasco', a Chicana clairvoyant private investigator in Northern California.
