Dorothy Salisbury Davis was born in Chicago. She worked in advertising as a research librarian and as an editor of The Merchandiser. She is the creator of:
1. 'Julie Hayes', a gossip columnist for a New York newspaper.
2. 'Mrs. Norris', a housekeeper and amateur sleuth.
