Gemma Halliday was born in the San Francisco Bay Area, California where she still lives with her family. She has worked as a film and television actor, department store administrator, preschool teacher, English tutor, teddy bear importer, and telephone psychic before becoming a writer. She also writes novels for young adults. She is the creator of:
1. 'Jamie Bond', a former cover model who takes over the family business: The Bond Agency, a PI firm in Los Angeles, California (mostly written together with Jennifer Fischetto).
2. 'Hartley Grace Featherstone', a high school student and amateur sleuth.
3. 'High Heels Mystery' series featuring Maddie Springer, a shoe designer and amateur sleuth in Los Angeles, California.
4. 'Hollywood Headlines' series featuring Tina Bender, a gossip columnist at the L.A. Informer.
5. 'Martha "Marty" Hudson', the inheritor of a Victorian home at 221 Baker Street in San Francisco, California (with Kelly Rey).
6. 'Tahoe Tessie Mystery' series featuring Tessie King, a casino owner in South Lake Tahoe, California (with T. Sue Versteeg).
7. 'Wine & Dine Mystery' series featuring Emmy Oak, manager of the family's Oak Valley Vineyard.
