John Mackie was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. He is a retired police officer. He served in the Street Crime Unit, Midtown South, Manhattan South Internal Affairs, and the Narcotics Division of the Organized Crime Control Bureau. In 1984, he retired after an injury on the job. He lives in Vero Beach, Florida. He is the creator of 'Thornton Savage', a Detective Sergeant in the NYPD. Visit also the author's own site.
