Pseudonym of Arthur Ernest Ashley. He was born in East Retford, Nottinghamshire. He worked as a sign painter and decorator before becoming a writer. He is the creator of:

2. 'Ronald Drew', an Acting Inspector (formerly Sergeant).
3. 'Gordon Knollis', a Scotland Yard Inspector.
