Judy Alter was born in Chicago, Illinois. She currently lives in Fort Worth, Texas. She is an author of both fiction and nonfiction for adults and young adults. She is the creator of:
1. 'Blue Plate Café Mystery' series featuring Kate Chambers, a restaurant manager and amateur sleuth in Wheeler, Texas.
2. 'Irene Foxglove', a TV chef on a local Chicago channel.
3. 'Kelly O'Connell', a realtor/renovator and amateur sleuth in Fort Worth, Texas.
4. 'Oak Grove Mystery' series featuring Susan Hogan, associate professor of English at Oak Grove University in Texas.
