John Campbell Crosby was born in Milwaukee. He graduated from the Philips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire and studied at Yale. He was a reporter for The Milwaukee Sentinel in 1933, and for The Herald Tribune from 1935 to 1941. During the Second World War he served in the Army News Service. After the war he returned to The Herald Tribune. From 1965 to 1975, he wrote for the British weekly newspaper The Observer. |
