Christopher John McCabe was born in Vancouver, Canada to English parents. He lives in Birmingham with his family. He is an author and Professor of Molecular Endocrinology at the University of Birmingham. He is the creator of 'Reuben Maitland', chief of GeneCrime, the UK's elite forensic crime squad (under the pseudonym 'John Macken').
