John Michael Reeves was born in Merritt, British Columbia, Canada. He is an author, composer, and broadcaster. He was educated in England. After graduation from Cambridge University, he returned to Canada where he taught Classics at the University of British Columbia. In 1952, he joined CBC radio as a music producer and later as a producer of dramas, documentaries, and religious programmes. He is the creator of 'Andrew Coggin and Fred Sump', a Detective Inspector and a Detective Sergeant in Toronto, Canada.
