Ronald Clair Roat was born in Pontiac, Michigan. He was an author, journalist, editor, and columnist. He served as a journalism professor at the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville, Indiana, between 1986 and 2008 when he retired. He is the creator of 'Stuart Mallory', a private detective in Michigan.
