Paul Ableman was born in Leeds, Yorkshire. He was an author, playwright, and freelance writer. Two of his novels are novelizations of the BBC television series Shoestring starring Trevor Eve as Eddie Shoestring, a computer expert who works at a Bristol radio station as a phone-in host who solves callers' problems.
