Sir Edmund Charles Cox was born in Exeter, Devon. He was educated at Marlborough and Trinity College, Cambridge. In 1877, he was appointed Assistant Inspector-General of Police in Bombay, India. He is the creator of 'John Carruthers', a policeman in India. |
