Pseudonym of Gareth Creer. He was born in Salford, Greater Manchester. He studied at Balliol College, Oxford and at Sheffield Hallam University. He taught Creative Writing at Liverpool John Moores University for fourteen years and was Head of Writing there for seven years before retiring. He also wrote three literary novels under his own name. He is the creator of 'Will Wagstaffe', a Detective Inspector.
