Elly Griffiths was born in London. She now lives near Brighton. She also writes novels for young adults. She is the creator of:
1. 'Brighton Mystery' series featuring Edgar Stephens and Max Mephisto, a Detective Inspector (later a Superintendent) and a magician in 1950s and 1960s Brighton.
2. 'Harbinder Kaur', a Detective Sergeant and later Detective Inspector in London.
3. 'Ruth Galloway', a forensic archeologist and amateur sleuth.
