Claire Margaret Johnson graduated from the University of California with a B.A. in history. She worked as a pastry chef but stopped cooking professionally when her children were born. Currently she is an editor at U.C. Berkeley. She lives in Lafayette, California with her family. She is the creator of 'Mary Ryan', a San Francisco pastry chef and amateur sleuth.
