Gerald Allan "Jerry" Sohl Sr. was born in Los Angeles, California. He was an author and television scriptwriter. He wrote for, amongst others, The Twilight Zone, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, The Outer Limits, and Star Trek: The Original Series. He also wrote science fiction novels.
