James Reginald Wilmot was born in Birkenhead, Cheshire. He also wrote romances under the pseudonym 'Frances Stewart'. He is the creator of 'Curtis Burke', a Chief Inspector of Scotland Yard (under the pseudonym 'Ralph Trevor').
