Ian Rankin was born in Cardenden, Scotland. He obtained a degree in English Literature at Edinburgh University. In 1986, he moved to London. He worked as a secretary at the National Folktale Centre before becoming a journalist. In 1990, he moved to France. In 1996, he returned to Scotland. He is the creator of 'John Rebus', a Detective Inspector in Edinburgh. He also wrote under the pseudonym 'Jack Harvey'. Visit also this site. |
