Vincent Banville was born in Wexford, Ireland. He was an author and teacher. His brother, John Banville, also writes crime novels. He also wrote one mainstream novel An End to Flight (1973) under the pseudonym 'Vincent Lawrence'. He is the creator of 'John Blaine', a private detective in Dublin, Ireland.
